Abandoned Mine Lands Bair-Collins Mine Reclamation and Floodplain Restoration Project

The Abandoned Mine Lands Bair-Collins Mine Reclamation and Floodplain Restoration Project in Roundup was designed to mitigate flooding, restore riparian habitat, and improve recreational access to the Musselshell River. Flood mitigation has been a primary focus in the Roundup Reach area following the Musselshell Watershed Plan (see Roundup Reach Flood Mitigation Alternatives).

This partnership includes Musselshell County, the City of Roundup, the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation, Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks, Musselshell Watershed Coalition, and DEQ’s Brownfields Redevelopment Program. Funding has been provided by grants from Fish, Wildlife & Parks, the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation, and DEQ’s Brownfields and Abandoned Mine Lands Programs. The project was completed in November 2020 with continued master planning for future uses of the space.
